Karrayyu men at Gadaa ceremony - EThiopia by Eric Lafforgue on Flickr.Via Flickr:
Gada ceremony near Metahara, in Ethiopia.
The Gada ceremony takes place every 8 years, and celebrates the new chief. The ceremony lasts 2 days and does not allow any tourists in. Only 10 000 Karrayyus Oromo people. Karrayyus are not famous like their neighbors and enemies, the Afars. They face major problems those days as ethiopian government sell their lands to foreign companies. They also have huge problems with drought, and lose cows and camels.
The ceremony took place mostly at night and in the desert.
